DID/DDI Direct Inward Dial*
2. Adding a DID number from your MultiTEL account

1. DIDs – Direct Inward Dials (also known as DDI in Europe)
Every tenant can be assigned a group of DIDs, numbers to be dialed from the outside.
Each DID can be configured to reach a certain extension, Queue, Hunt Group, IVR, or any combination of the elements defined for the tenant. The same DID cannot be assigned to more than one tenant and there is no correlation between the dialing profile assigned to a tenant, the trunk provider used, and the incoming DID. For this reason is highly important the incoming INVITE from the trunk provider contains all the info to identify correctly the DID it is addressing.
2. Adding a DID number from your MultiTEL account
On your MultiTEL account, click on the “My Numbers” section:
On the new page, edit one of your numbers and make sure that “Call Action” is set to “Hosted PBX”. On the “URI” section you’ll be able to select one of your existing Hosted PBX instances:
The number will automatically show up in your Hosted PBX instance, in the DIDs section immediately after you modify/save the changes on your MultiTEL number.
3. Adding DIDs manually :
A DID can be configured to accept voice, fax or try to guess the calling party (if voice of fax). Auto-detection relies on signaling at the start of the call but isn’t always reliable.
Comment: A comment for you and doesn’t affect the system in any way.
Unconditional Forward: is a destination that can be set on the DID to send the call to aparticular destination. It is enabled/disabled by the checkbox, which can be easilycontrolled by a feature code. This particular feature is designed to be temporary, and is not meant to be the standard protocol. The Unconditional Forward may be used as a manual override when activated, so to speak. For example, if you leave your office and need calls to forward to your cell phone while out, you can use an unconditional forward to send all calls to your cell phone.
Max Channels: allows you to set the maximal number of channels available on the DID. Anyadditional call received will be refused with a busy signal. If you wish to add channels to this feature you will have to go to the “Edit Purchased Numbers” form your Purchased numbers menu (From your Control Panel > My Numbers > Action> Edit Numbers> Number Channels) and select the number of channels you want for an additional cost.
Use CNAM Service: Allows you to assign the Caller ID Name based on the number received. This is a popular serviceoffered in most countries. You can configure the service in the Admin/Settings page in the Hosted PBX menu.
Use as Emergency CallerID: permits you to mark this DID as one of the available to beused when an emergency call is dialed. Due to the fact the emergency numbers are notstandard among all countries, it is your duty to assign the “emergency flag” to the dialingrules for emergency numbers. When a call is dialed and it is using a dialing rule marked as “emergency”, the Caller ID number used for the extension is the one defined as “Emergency”among the ones with this flag set.
Inbound Call Rate: allows you to define a call rate for inbound calls.
Voice Section: Here is where you define how to route the call when a voice call is received.
Always record: allows you to force the recording of the call, no matter what happens to the call.Recordings will be available through the Call History menu. Please note that only bridged conversations will be recorded (no music on hold and no IVRs will be recorded)
Email recordings to: defines if and to whom the recordings need to be sent once the call hasended. Multiple email destinations can be entered with any standard delimiter such as space, comma or semicolon.
Minimum Size (Bytes) allows you to receive the recordings bigger than the size set, in Bytes.Recording takes place only on bridged channels, so IVR prompts or Music On Hold will benot recorded.
Prefix CallerID Num – Here is where you can define a string of numbers that can be added in front of any CallerIDnumber received (ex. identifying the DID the call arrived on). The same can beachieved by defining a Custom Destination. This way you can know where the calls are coming from.
Prefix CallerID Name is the same as above, but for the Caller ID Name.
Destination -- drop down with multiple options allowing you to define the list and the order of the objects/destinations receiving/processingthe call.
Fax section allows you to define what to do with the call if a fax is received on the numberdefined. Receiving Faxes over the Internet has often a low success rate, even if T.38 protocol isused.
Receive fax can be used to select if fax will be auto-detected, forced or disallow (i.e. “No”) the reception of a Fax overthe current DID.
- Auto Detect- will pick up all inbound calls and “listen” for fax tones for 5 seconds (default settings). If it "hears" fax tones , or if it detects fax signaling (via "T38" protocol ), then it will receive , store and forward the fax as e-mail.
- Forced- Will always pick up the line and wait indefinitely to receive a fax (good for numbers designated as fax lines)
- No- Will never pick up faxes
Fax Station ID and Fax Header- Allows you to customize your virtual fax.
Fax Protocol -- can be selected from these choices: T.38 (the preferred way to receive faxes), T.38 withfallback to G.711 or only G.711.
Email destinations box permits to enter one or multiple email addresses where the received fax will be forwarded to, separated by commas. Received faxes are sent in PDF format. Partially received faxes aresent in the same way.
Store Fax Received- allows you to store faxes received for later (which is stored under your Status menu from the PBX menu)
4.Bulk DIDs creation###########
It is possible to create multiple DIDs at once with the Bulk DIDs creation button. In this way a range of number is requested. All the numbers generated are configured in the same way
